About Specpro

Four decades of engineering excellence

Specpro Precision Engineering was founded by Linton Hope, who began his career as an apprentice at Atlas Engineering — where military aircraft were manufactured and assembled. Over 45 years, Linton Hope has developed a reputation for exacting standards, hands-on expertise, and a commitment to delivering components that perform under demanding conditions.

Based in Redhill, KwaZulu-Natal, Specpro is a family-run business registered since 2003 — small enough to be responsive, experienced enough to be trusted.

Capabilities

Machining solutions for every requirement

From automated CNC production cells to large-diameter conventional turning, Specpro has the equipment and expertise to handle complex, close-tolerance components across a wide range of materials and quantities.

CNC turning — AeroTurn BT-300

Fanuc OI-TC controlled CNC turning centre. Primary machine for customer CNC turning work — high accuracy, consistent results across batch and volume orders.

8″ chuck · 2.55″ bar capacity · Fanuc control
CNC milling — East Lion EL-BT1500

Large-format CNC milling centre with P4-class spindle bearings and 10m/min rapid feedrate. Laser-verified to DGQ/VDI 3441 accuracy standards.

1500mm table · BT40 spindle
4th axis machining — Hartford SMC-5

Vertical machining centre with rotary 4th axis — mills from the side of a component while the chuck rotates, enabling complex multi-face parts in a single setup without re-fixturing.

4-axis VMC · rotary table
Automated production cell

Po Ly Gim PLG-42 CNC lathe with FEDEK DH65 bar feeder machines precision blanks automatically. The Hartford SMC-5 then completes high-demand stock components — a two-stage cell built for consistent volume output.

PLG-42 · FEDEK DH65 bar feeder · lights-out capable
Conventional turning — Colchester Mascot 1600

British-built heavy-duty gap-bed centre lathe. Handles large-diameter and long-shaft work beyond CNC envelope — ideal for once-off components, repairs, and oversized jobs.

Up to 600mm dia (gap) · 260mm dia × 1500mm shaft · 432mm swing
